This company is suing for a debt that I owe Capitol One. I tried to negotiate to pay my loan, but they refused my offer. I don't deny that I need to pay for my debt, but I have found their practices legitimately barbaric.

Is it true they are under investigation in California for violation of professional conduct? And if so, where would I find this information.

Thank you,

The same thing happened to me, but they're not suing me.. they're just asking me if i can pay the money that i owed from capital one before the end of the month (january 2010, then i will be okay.. but i told the guy that i spoke with that i will just give him a call and he gave 3days to do that.. i didnt give him any info about my bank acct yet and now i'm confused if i should because there's an article about them that says they are a fraud..

THey are currently going after me for a card I had with Cap. One as well. I told them that I would be willing to make small payments ($65 a month is all I can spare ), untill I get my taxes in 6 months, but they refused to work with me. Instead they say that unless I pay them $800 of the $2800 that they are willing to settle with that I will be taken to court and have my wages garnished. They are constantly calling me at work and harassing my co-workers, yet when I try to call back "Lyn", she is never there. Something about them feels dirty and yes, barbaric.
