When I first called them to make payment arrangements, they were not willing to cooperate. I informed them of what I could do and they said they wouldn't accept it, so I called back to try again and my payments were better than none.

Sales
Continue to contact me at work even though I have given them good alternate contacts and told them I cannot take personal calls at work. Always the same caller, Michael Rivera, who calls to verify my address at work to tell me he is going to send agents to my work to embarrass me in front of my coworkers and have me served. All I have asked for is a debt validation as the amount they say I owe is 3 times what my records show and before I pay I want to make sure it is ligit. They refuse to send me a statement (debt validation) since March.

Same guy Michael Rivera Conacted me and said marshals would serve me papers. Papers are served by Civil Servers not marshals. They also threatened and when you get upset and call them out on their lies or mention your attorney they want to work with you.

#5 - michael smith - 08/26/2010 - 17:29
If you tell them to stop calling you at work they have to due to FTC rules. If they dont you can report to FTC and right a complaint.
#6 - Big Dozer - 09/01/2010 - 15:05
Dont believe a word they said
Got a call from these guys yesterday. Left a message stating that they were a law office. I don't think I believe them. They have not sent me any form of certified mail informing me of any of this. Also the number the man gave for me to call back is a toll free number. You'd think if it were an attorney they would use a localized number not an 888 number. Anyhow, if anyone can let me know if they've had dealings with these guys I'd like to know how it turned out.

Payment Arrangments
They called me and I talked to a Sunny Quintana. I have made an arrangment to help pay off my doebt in good faith, but after almost 2 months of me repeatadly asking for proof of my debt and payment arrangment and schedule. They have not sent me anything. They keep saying they are sending me papers, but still have not recieved them. It does not take 20 buisness days even from denver to recieve mail from a collection agency. If these guys contact you, have them provide you with proof first before you do anything else. They are nice, but very unproffessional.
#8 - Ashley - 09/24/2010 - 09:42
Just a fly by night debt buyer. they hire ex-convicts to call and hassle you. All I have to say is although most are idle threats if you do happen to get served make sure you show up for court as they could get a default judgement.

I have received Several calls from Standley Asscoiates reps that I cant even remember names or how many time ive been harrassed! however one guy stood out from the callers. A Mr. Night, calling to collect from us bank. So i explain my unemployment situation and that i just got out of college and itll take some time so mr knight doesnt like my respond and tells me im irresponsible and cant pay my bills and if i just got out of college why cant i pay them and that im a LOSER! i was lit but what does he know hes a collector!! some career choice.however Mr knight is just mad because he wasnt gettin a bonus that day. I told them id have to go to court and mr knight told me it wasnt worth their attorneys time. at least through a court is a legal place where u know where your money is going.

The person harassing us said they're in CO. Springs. They were using a cell ph.Do they work out of their home? He threatened to take "everything we own" for an actual debt of 600.00. Again, nothing ever received in the mail.
#11 - Bert - 12/01/2010 - 11:01
They won't stop calling me for someone else!
I guess my girlfriend's sister (I'll call her Jill) has some outstanding issue with these guys. They call me every day, and they will not stop after repeated requests, some where they yelled at me for simply requesting!

They claim they got my number from some credit application where Jill must have put my number on some credit app, but she doesn't even know my number let alone enough to put it on a credit app.

They won't stop calling me.

So, are these people and its establishment legit or just a front? Mike Riviera got so irritated with me he hung up...lol.....I did talk to a Michelle Rodriguez, who seemed pleasant...any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Been dealing with these guys on and off for about 3 months now. They have threatened to sue me numerous times. They told me they sent me letters concerning my debt but I've never received them due to some faulty address they have on file for me. Every other piece of mail reaches me just fine. I got suspicious when they refused to send anything to my correct address. The guy said he would be emailing the complaint to the courts if I didn't pay by a certain day, which they never did. Then I received a call from a different associate in their office who had no idea what I was talking about when I asked if they'd sent a complaint yet. They stopped calling for about a month until yesterday when I got a call from a 720 number that left a garbled message on my voice mail. I called it back and sure enough it was their office.
#14 - Annoyed - 12/12/2010 - 17:04
Currently dealing with these guys
Been dealing with these guys since September. I've agreed to pay on the debt. Now I've been paying for a min. I haven't received anything in the mail from them regarding receipts of any kind I've been waiting on receipts by e-mail for a few days (at least). Is anyone else paying these guys except me?
#15 - Jane Doe - 12/29/2010 - 19:14
They are calling every Thursday at the exact same time. Different person each time so I've explained my financial situation over 20 times now(Don't they keep notes?) The man told me he would be sending documents about the account but I have yet to receive anything in the mail. I'm not sure if they are making idle threats to sue me or if they are actually going to follow through since every time I talk to someone I get the same bullcrap.
#16 - Annoyed again - 01/06/2011 - 15:12
Standley & assoc. are crooks
I have been dealing with these guys for about a year. They are attempting to collect a debt for US Bank...they are trying to charge me about a thousand dollars more than I owe. I agreed to make payments which at first they refused as to small. Finally after making repeated harassment and threats to me, they agreed to accept $25.00 a month but only if I gave them my checking account number for them to make automatic withdrawls. After 6 months of payment they started taking more than the agreed amount and withdrawing it on a date earlier each month than we agreed on. They caused my bank account to overdraw with one of these automatic withdrawls. I tried to dispute the charge but was refused since I never received any documentation from them about what the details of the payments were supposed to be. I changed my acct number and no longer allow them such access. DO NOT give them your personal bank info.
#17 - Julie - 01/24/2011 - 14:02
Mike Rivera called and yelled at my disabled mother today. He refused to give an amount or even say who wanted to collect from her. She is afraid that someone is going to hurt her now.

Professional Debt Collector
These guys are among the bottom feeders of the industry, they are not licensed in some states where they claim to have attorneys representing them. Ethics were obviously skipped by the 2 or 3 people that actucally went to college in this company. The questionable managers and unbonded or unregistered agents that are bound by FDCPA laws( and do not abide to) are among the many things wrong with this junk debt buyer service provider. Always ask for a verification of debt (which I'm sure they will provide) and file disputes with the major credit reporting agencies when they do not. Do not pay any setlement amount until you get something in writing. And never ever give any personal account information over the phone. Very truly yours - A Professional Debt Collector in WA
#19 - ROCKY STONE - 03/03/2011 - 03:06
Mean, Heartless and RUDE
Michael Rivera has been calling me for weeks now harrassing me and my family trying to collect my bad debt from 6 years ago. After weeks of being harrassed I returned the call to see about working out a payment arrangment and Michael was extremely rude in his manner and tone of voice and told me that they would garnish my wages and that my payment I offered would not be acceptable to them because they can get more with a garnishment. I was very rude to him at first and hung up on him, he called back leaving a message threatening me and his exact words were "I already know what i'm going to do to you, You dont have a choice". I called back and was very polite to discuss options again and he agreed to settle with me for a lower amount but wanted it right away over the phone, nothing in writing. I refused and mentioned bankruptcy and again he threatened me saying that "I'll have your judgment ready before you can get a bankruptcy file number, we'll see who can win". This guy was very rude. I am in the process of filing complaints to several agencies.
#20 - Jarod - 03/04/2011 - 16:49
Worst experience ever!! I am in the process of filing harassment charges on my Collector Mr. Shalom Duarte. He called me over 30 times in one week leaving me 3 to 4 messages a day. Colorado law states that a debt collector can only make contact with you once a day and can be either talking to you or leaving you a message. He was told not to call me at work and of course he contiuned to. He then ran my credit card for an unauthorized amount and then called to tell me he was sending me over to the county to start legal so they could garnish my wages. Everything he did is illegal. I feel sorry for anyone else who has to deal with these people. I have checked and they have had 32 complaints filed against them in the past year.
#21 - Annoyed - 03/10/2011 - 12:11
Human being
I have been dealing with Mr. Frederick Edwards and trying to resolve the remainder of my balance. He is extremely rude, will not let me speak or complete a sentence, talks over me and is condescending. I told him when I would have funds available to pay my debt and he requested a credit card payment today. I tried to tell him I do not have a credit card and he yelled at me to listen to him. I asked to speak to his supervisor and he denied me that courtesy. I ended up hanging up and trying to call back on different numbers for the law firm. I got Mr. Frederick Edwards again and asked again for his supervisor. He said "Speaking". I said that I wished to speak directly with his supervisor or leave a message and he told me "Neither" and started rambling on so that I could not even speak. They threaten and tell you what they are going to do but you don't even get the common courtesy to reply to anything that is being said. As a former Legal Secretary who has also had to try to collect debt, I am absolutely disgusted with the lack of common courtesy and the disrespect that has been shown me during this entire process.

This company completely broke the privacy laws when they discussed financial matters of my son to me. They attempted to create a payment plan without his acknowledgement or ok.

Foolish & unproffessional- costing themselves $$$
I've been getting broken pre-recorded messages from their office for months now. You can never hear the whole message and its always bits and pieces of their info.
I received a letter in the mail from them FINALLY- this month. Saying I owe WAY more than my original debt to US Bank, original amount was for around $350 and they are trying to say because of what I signed they can add whatever fee's they feel "necessary" and that I'm now legally obligated to pay them $1558.94- ya, no thanks. And no documentation of my actual debts or accounts just the simple numbers they have come up with. They then offer to "save" me $935.36 if I'll call and pay "just" $623.58 but it has to be by tomorrow (March 25th). I called to see if I could pay just short of that amount and get it over with because that is what I'm able to afford right now, and if they couldn't I let them know that I had many other bills (mainly medical from a complicated pregnancy) that I would be happy to apply those funds to if they wouldln't work with me.
Today when I called I spoke with Frank or Frederick Edwards, can't recall which it was because he was terribly rude. I never raised my voice or said anything to argue with him until he started threatening me and saying they'd take me to court. I simply asked him to speak to a supervisor- he said he was the supervisor of the pre-legal dept. Sounds like these guys will say whatever they can to ruffle your feathers. From other things I've read this guy has claimed to be an attorney himself and many others make false statements. I haven't read a single good report about this company and from what I see here they break many laws and are incredibly unproffessional. They still would have walked away with more than my original debt today and been able to stop wasting their labor dollars on harrassing me (as I'm sure would be the case with many others) if they would just do things by the book and try to work with people.
He said he would NOT let me speak to anyone else. He said the only person above him would be the attorney who came up with the settlement amount (that's not who signed the letter! A Brian Quintana did) and that he wouldn't take my phone call anyway. He said I was wasting his time, and that he could be doing other things than trying to work with me and kept cutting me off, he said my deal was good till tomorrow & that it would be wise of me to "find more money" and pay by tomorrow over the phone and that he had to go. I simply said "OK, good luck." I have plenty of other more important things this money can go toward, and I will dispute this the legal way. If they want to waste their money and try and get me into court they can go ahead. I'm sure any attorney I pick will be a lot more professional than these losers! If anyone on this thread has any follow up information to your posts or has had any more recent issues, please post to let us know!
Thanks, and good luck to anyone who has to deal with these guys!

Asked if I was married by Brian Hernandez
A guy names Brian Hernandez harassed me and made accusations against me that where false. When I asked for information about what account they are referring to, they don't give me the info. Also a girl name Michelle, called and she never got back with me on the answers she said she would try to find out for me, instead she sicked Brian Hernandez on me. When I called paypal to verify this, I was told this was handled by a completely different company than Stanley n Associates. Hum?

Three months ago I recieved a phone call from somebody telling that i owe Dillards money, and I have to make payments thru bank,I let them do so,even I have no proof that I owe anything. They said that they had sent me a letter,so I asked where did they send it. They gave some kind of address in SLC,where I have not lived. I want to stop the payments, when I don't have any proof if I owe anything, and can't afford any extra payments of my little Soc.Sec.check.
#26 - marjatta nielsen - 05/09/2011 - 15:45
I was contacted by them and when I started asking information, they were so rude about it. Then when I asked where was the paper work on this and that I have never recieved any, they could not comment on it. Plus, if they are in Colorado then why are they using an Oregon number? They have no website, are rude, and wont take payments unless it's to pay off debt all at once. Also, they did not even have all my correct information.
#27 - christin - 05/31/2011 - 12:38
These guys have been harassing my step-daughter on behalf of US Bank for a 5 year old debt of under $400. They claim she now owes $1000 with interest accrued. Do NOT give these idiots ANY personal info. They are maggots...bottom-feeders...human parasites. They try to be intimidating. Do yourself a favor: HANG UP on these jerks. They don't deserve a second of your time. Hopefully, they will someday get a real job.
#28 - Bruce - 06/06/2011 - 20:20
I have dealt with them myself at the courthouse regarding a Best Buy account that I did owe but had tried to work out a payment arrangment with Best Buy to illiminate the outrageous interest rate charges and the over the limit fees as well as the late payment fees as I was able to with others as soon as I found a job but they refused to do any of that and wanted me to pay the previous 4 months that I owed plus the new payment. I can understand why Best buy hired these outragously rude people because they are the same way and they are just as rude in the courtroom as they are on the phone. I set up a payment plan (and yes they do charge an extensive fee) and we argued over the amount to be paid for awhile till he realized I wasn't going any higher. When you show up for court, they give you a number on the debt collectors card and then they call you and in front of everyone else in the court room discuss the debt with you and try to negotiate. They ask you what you make, full well knowing already because they had already contacted my payroll person to set up a garnishment in case I didn't show up. When I told him he already knew what I made so why ask and I wasn't going to devulge that information in front of everyone else in the courtroom because it was private and personal, he got upset and said, Yes I do know what you make and what you can afford to pay monthly! I told him he wouldn't know what I could afford to pay monthly unless he paid my other bills. Then they want you to pay a ridiculous amount and argue and threaten to break you down. The amount I settled on is more than I can afford but to be honest I just want to get this over with and if I had seen these e-mails prior, I would have elected to meet with the Judge. I was supposed to pay my first payment yesterday by phone but lost the paperwork and came here online to try and get the number so I could call and pay it. Now I will not pay it until I receive my paperwork that he told me would come in the mail. Thank you all for your comments, they have been quite helpful.
#29 - Denise - 06/16/2011 - 10:46
After reading the above comments I feel compelled to write about my experience. My original debt of $891 was sold and the agency hired Stanley and Associates to collect. They are the low life of collection agents, vacillating between attempted courtesy and absolute disrespect. I settled my $891 debt for $1000, and boy, if I understood then what I do now that would have never happened. To add insult to injury S&A and the original debt agent have not reported paid on my triple credit reports. So debtor beware, make sure you keep up with your own credit report, know your rights, and understand that these scummy collectors make their living off what you will pay, not what you legally owe.

Michelle Rodriguez, Brian Quintana, Aaron Burr, etc. What do these names have in common? They're from movies, or actors names, or historical figures.
#33 - Eric - 08/23/2011 - 17:11
I have been receiving repeated, harassing phone calls from this company, and they tell me that they have no record of my phone number or my name on file, and thus no reason to be collecting money from me. They deny having called at all, and every single person I speak to at this company is increasingly rude. I have filed a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission in hopes of repercussions for their appalling behavior.
#34 - MBJ - 08/23/2011 - 19:13
This company withdrew funds from my bank account WITHOUT my consent. Please DO NOT give them any account information. I paid off my account in July to get them off my back. We settled. Well, just this last week they took another @200 from my account without my knowledge or consent. Now I am disputing it with my bank and ready to hire a lawyer. SOMEONE has to put an end to this company. They are doing things illegally and fraudulently!!

Not licensed in Utah
Like Dona did, check w/your local bar association. Stanley & associates will claim to be attorneys. If they are not licensed with the bar in your state, its considered practicing law without a license and they can be prosecuted. Report them to your local bar association - it's up to them to pursue it.

Mr.
Jim Standley,
Brian Herdina,
Corbin Whatever his last name is,
Corbin is who i had dealt with fist. To sum Corbin up in a couple of words, without being derogatory can not be done.
The things i was told, the threats that were made directed at myself and anyone who i hold dear, were without integrity. Brian Herdina, Is suppose to be a supervisor over looking Corbin, Hey brian Teach your employees some consistent integrity. The phone number that they have for me is my parents home phone number how they had gotten that is beyond me. They Call letting it ring twice, then hang up! all through the day this is happening more often then not.
is there some way to get these folks in trouble for telephonic harassment?

on 9/29/2011 I received a ltr from Standley and Associates stating I owed some money from and outstanding account with a credit card company. they offered a rediculous settlement amount staing interest had acrued. Then before the letter was a day old (date received) Phone calls in a threatening manner began. This account was settled over three years ago and I have proof. Brian Quintana was referenced as the collection manager in the letter the phone calls came from Eric Schwab. Do as I did and notify your local DA's office and fraud depatment of the FBI and the FTC. If they threaten you reciprocate and threaten them in a calm manner and tell them to cease immediately with the harrasment. DO NOT GIVE THEM THE SATISFACTION OF UPSETTING YOU. UPSET THEM. They are lowlife bottom feeders and need to be striken from society. It will work and they will be destroyed. Good Luck...

I was contacted by this company, they stated they were a law firm and told me I had a bill for over 1,600 debt to US Bank. I had a debt of originally 200 to 300 something. How is this possible after a few yrs later. They state they have been trying to get a hold of me for 3 yrs and this is the first I heard of them. He threatened to garnish my wages if i didn't pay and offered me a 600 dollar deduction if i paid a lump sum. I don't have the money and he wanted my credit card or bank info over the phone. I agreed and then saw the messages on here. From previous comments they were taking out more then was agreed on. He also told me he would call me on Thurs and no one called so I cancelled card. I was contacted to day and let them know I can start sending them checks that I don't they are a law office and he got upset and cancelled our agreement and hung up on me. Before telling me my wages will be garnished. What a load of crap how is anyone suppose to get help. They just attack, and treat you with so much discrespect. We are human and we are going to believe what is written only to protect ourselves. We are not bad people just made some mistakes or were in a rough spot. Take a look and put yourself in our shoe's and work with us we will work with you ..

IF You Are called by these folks, IMMEDIATELY report them to the attorney general's office in Colorado! We just had one idiot call our employer, trying to collect on SOMEONE ELSE's debt, Illegal? You bet.
#44 - Mistaken Identity - 10/18/2011 - 19:11
These clowns are trying to collect a debt from my kid for SOMEONE else's debt. They called her employer and asked all kinds of questions, told her she had a debt and they had a "case". I called back, he was Soo mad he wasn't dealing with a 20 yr old kid he could bully. The debt was for "Old Navy" credit card for 2004-2006. HE had the wrong birth date, social security number, but HEY, the name was the same! And Old Navy gives credit cards to 14 year olds don't they??? If you get calls them REPORT THEM TO THE COLORADO ATTORNEY GENERAL'S OFFICE. Go to their web site, download the complaint form and submit it! THIS JERK started yelling and telling me HE WAS RECORDING THE CALL AND HE WAS GOING TO PURSUE THE CASE etc. etc. What a total idiot! I told him to go ahead and we would sue! Called him back and told him again to Stop calling her employer or I'd report him for harassment and disclosure. He did say it was resolved, but after reading all of this. We're complaining anyways...he can't call employer's and claim their employee has a debt when they don't! That's not legal. Preying off the young, old, and uninformed to collect debts not owed is just plain wrong.
#45 - PO'd MOM - 10/18/2011 - 20:36
I have been contacted by these crooks who say they are working for a client who purchased a credit card account. We have disputed this account as a fraud app. The acct was sold 3 times and this group is the most recent to handle it. Their client owns the debt purchasing company. They harrass and call employers, family and home multiple times each week. They cannot provide validation of the debt but will claim they and have will continue to harrass. I filed a complaint with the State of Colorado Department of Law - Office of the Attorney General and the Collection Agency Board. No one else has filed a claim besides me. It is my word against theirs. The crooks said they are holding my acct for further action while they ask the original creditor for more documentation on the debt. Who knows what will happen next. I suggest if you are having problems with this group, file a complaint. This is the only way anything might get done. James Standley and some within his organizatin appear to have had some legal issues in the past of their own....Good Luck!
#46 - DMT - 10/25/2011 - 15:17
File complaint with the State of Colorado Office of the Attorney General - Collection Agency Board. The BBB will do nothing!!! File where they have to get their license and there is monitoring and action on complaints. There apparently have not been enough complaints for action. These people are crooks. James Standley owns GTF Services who is purchasing this crappy debt.

Fishy!
This company has begun contacting me, and several points have made me suspicious. The first time they called me at work claiming to be collecting a debt for US Bank, I informed them that I didn't know what this was regarding as I currently have accounts with US Bank in good standing and don't owe anything. The agent was polite the first day telling me to contact the bank and get back to him. However the next day he called me at work again, I told him I was unable to talk as I was at work and would call him back as soon as I was able to find out what was going on from US Bank. I did receive a letter from them that evening, however the agent on the phone quoted me a different amount due than was in the letter, making me very suspicious about this debt. The third time the agent called my work, didn't identify himself, simply asked to verify our company's address. After I gave the address he spoke very quickly saying he was calling from "Standley and Associates” and that they would be serving me paperwork at work since I “don't know how to call people back" and immediately hung up. I looked up Standley and Associates online when I got home their website is “under construction” and only gives a phone number, e-mail address, and (suspiciously) a slightly different physical address from the one they provided in their letter. Since I am entitled to dispute the debt I immediately wrote a letter questioning it both because I don’t believe I owe my bank any money and because of the discrepancy in amounts their lawfirm claims. I also told them that they were not allowed to contact me at my place of employment, but could send mail to my home or call on my cell which I provided for them. I emailed the letter that evening, faxed a copy first thing in the morning and sent a certified copy to both addresses. Hopefully this stops their queer collection techniques!

Threatening and disrespectful
I keep getting threatening phone calls from a Michael Rivera. I have asked for a certified letter showing how much I owe and have yet to receive anything. Every time I do request a letter they claim that I am out of time and someone will be sent to serve papers to me if I do not just make payment arrangements. Also they are requesting outrageous payment amounts. I will not be paying a penny until I see some written, certified proof of what I owe.

I live in Washington and my caller id says the call is coming from Seattle WA. They leave a voicemail with a 888 number to return there call. The 1st time they called, I called them back. The guy was rude, told me if I didn't agree with the debt he was telling me I had (us bank from 6 years ago)I could go to any US Bank branch to verify. It isn't even listed on my credit reports. He told me I had 72 hours to get back to him or I would be served papers for court. That was over a month ago. Just got another call from Corbin tonight. I ignored it and he left a message.

ILLEGAL PRACTICES
I don't think that they are legit. They refuse to play by the rules/laws. A word to the wise:
NEVER NEVER NEVER give ANY debt collector your bank information. Pay them with MONEY ORDERS ONLY. And keep your reciepts.
If they fail to provide written communication with your outstanding debts listed and the total amount owed, you are not obligated to do anything.
You can go on Equifax, or one of the other two, get your list for yourself, contact those who you owe money to, and make payment arrangements with them directly. You are not obligated to deal with debt collectors at all.

I live in Portland Oregon and acquired a credit card from Bank One. The amount owed on the card was less than $300.00. Standley and Associates called my home number today requesting my address from my wife. When my wife asked what it was regarding they initially refused to give her information but at some point stated that I owed $1553.00 for a credit card with Bank One. He stated that he was going to send people to my place of business. She stated that she was not going to verify the address and the person became extremely irate with her and she hung the phone up. She called me to let me know at in which time I returned their call. When I returned the called the person gave me the name of Brian Quatano. He immediately became very abusive on the phone in which I became extremely angry. I was referred to as a person that did not pay his bills. I was called a coward. I received what I appeared to be a threat. "I know where you work, I know where you live and I know what kind of car you drive." "I have your name and SS number and I can ruin you". I challenged him on whether or not they were really from an attorney's office as opposed to a collection agency which inflamed him even more. He then stated that he was going to garnish my check directly from my employer. I told him that I would see him in court first. I told him that this phone call couldn't possibly be recorded because he lacked professionalism and that it would not sound good in court. I was called a pig who didn't pay his bills on time. I told him that I would rather file bankruptcy than for his organization to receive a dime from me. He stated how I made that threat before and that I could not because I just filed bankruptcy in 2004. He stated that I needed to learn how to pay my bills on time and that I am irresponsible. I don't know who these people are. I have never received a letter or phone call from them. They faxed over requesting information from my employer a few days ago. This person mad it a point to tell me that as well. I do not know what these guys are capable of, especially with my SS# and other information about me. They seemed like they would do anything if they did not get there way. I am getting an attorney.

These bottom feeders have been trying to collect form me for a while now. I have asked for proof of debt several times and have never gotten anything. About a week ago I got a call from a Micheal Rivera, (360)587-4813 (Washington state phone number) at work, with that phone number popping up on my caller ID, trying to tell me that he is in Colorado. He told me that if I didn't give him my bank account information that day that he was going to send someone to serve me and take me to court to garnish my wages. I offered to work with him, he refused to work with in my budget. I told him before anything happens that I wanted to be sent proof of debt, he got upset and called me a piece of work and hung up on me. After that I looked up James J Standley's Bar # (18427) called my state bar and the state bar that the origional debt was out of and they are not registered in eaither state. In order for them to be able to sue me they would need to hire a lawyer that is certifed in my state, which doesn't make sence for a small debt.

Jerks
I have told them several times that I have paid most of this balance with another company and they are making me pay it all, not matter the proof. Also, they keep taking the money out before the date we agreed on and it makes my account negative every time.

I received a summons from standley and assoc. regarding gtf services and credit one bank. In this instance I did not have an account with credit one bank. I asked for proof that I owed the debt and all they could send me was a statement with my name and address on it. Advice for everyone: go to court, do not miss any court dates and fight it. Do not give them any money or make any arrangement with them. I kept telling them it was not mine but they refused to back down. We went before the judge and because they could not show any proof that the debt was mine I won the case. Everyone please don't give up and don't speak to them on the phone. Don't give them any ammunition to use against you. I hope this helps.

Heartless
I continue to receive phone calls at work for a past due account. I tried to make payment arrangements but the amount I can afford was not accepted. I have many other creditors waiting for payments, but a paycheck can only go so far. I am a single mother who is trying to correct these balances one payment at a time. I lost my home and 2 of my other children in a house fire just a year and a half ago. It takes some time to recover from these things. I find it heartless for them to tell me that my payment is not enough and not accepted.

not your business
this company sent me a letter regarding a debt I am already making monthly payments on with US Bank, when I asked for Information I was refused any. when I phoned back after seeing I was now having two separate companies remove money from my account a Corbin Padilla told me I was calling him a liar, ranted at me for about 5 minutes (I only wanted clarification) and then hung up on me! DO NOT DEAL WITH THEM. You are entitled to know who they bought your debt from (if they even did) and all other information you request. I am reporting them for fraud.

Laughable! I have emailed PDF attachments of police reports re identity theft to them twice, and they claim they don't have them. Now they are rudely demanding that I fax them. Nope. Not happening. They need to get their act together. They change guys and call me once or twice every six months. I'm bored. Rude, unprofessional (yelling at me about how if I don't fax the reports they will keep calling, lol). Get real, guys.

I have called to gain clarification and been yelled at and hung up on. I have requested to know 'who' they bought my debt from and was told they couldn't tell me that information. I then noticed the original debtor which is US Bank, whom I have a payment plan set up with and have been making monthly payments for some months now, was still taking payments from my account each month, and Standley & Assoc. are also taking payments. When I called to discuss this, (again) Corbin Padilla refused to allow me to speak, ranted and raised his voice to me for about 5 minutes and then said "Fine,it is your credit, we will stop the payments." He also told me US Bank was lying to me if they said they hadn't sold my account. As far as his closing our agreement, I did not trust him to do so and changed my account instead which I am glad of because today I received a letter from Standley stating they would be taking funds from my account as per our agreement! I called two more times before today and never received a call back. Nor did US Bank bother to phone back. I did report this company to the BBB and will file immediately with the Colorado District Attorney office as I highly recommend EVERYONE who has a complaint do. Perhaps that will stop them from their rude, and obvious frequent illegal activities. By the way their rating with the Better Business Bureau is F. That alone speaks volumes. DO NOT GIVE THEM $. DEMAND WRITTEN PROOF OF WHOM THEY BOUGHT THE DEBT FROM, IT IS YOUR RIGHT TO KNOW. CALL PREVIOUS DEBTORS AND CONFIRM. DON'T LET THEM BULLY YOU AND YES THERE ARE NUMEROUS AGENCIES YOU CAN REPORT TO. DEBT COLLECTORS ARE NOT ALLOWED TO CALL YOU AT WORK OR DURING CERTAIN HOURS! YOU CAN ALSO BLOCK THEIR CALLS WITH YOUR CELL PHONE AND MANY HOUSE PHONES.

Laid down the law
These guys called me over and over again. They would not accept the payment arrangments I offered them. I ended up calling my lawyer and getting her involved. I now record every single call I make to them. I have made it very clear that they are never to call me. I am paying exactly what I said I could do to begin with by money order each month. If you are having a problem with these guys GET A LAWYER. Alot of what they do violates the laws of debt collectors. I have also found indications that they are not a law office at all. If their claims of being a law office is unture then they are breaking the law already. Either way GET A LAWYER TO DEAL WITH THEM. I cannot stress this enough!

questions
This company has sent me a letter stating for this month only they will give me a discount of 1/2 price. And it will clear off my credit report. Is this true?

Why are they still operating
I have received calls from someone name Josh. Again debt from US Bank. Trying to collect $700 more than original debt. I thought they can be fined $1000 for every illegal attemp to harrass people. How can they be stopped. I am willing to pay my money to US Bank and get it over with.
