Your contact information

Once you submit this form a representative from the law firm of Francis & Mailman will contact you shortly

There is a federal law called the Fair Debt Collection Practice Act that was put in place to regulate the actions of all debt collection agencies.  Unfortunately, many debt collectors use questionable tactics when contacting you.  They may harass you about the debts owed, annoy you, call constantly and so much more.

This law applies to all debt collectors and debt collection agencies out there.  This means any company that is calling you in regards to a debt owed to someone else.  If the company that you owe money to directly calls you about payment, it is important to note that the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act does not apply to that company.  It only applies when that company hires a debt collection agency.

How  a Debt Collection Can Contact You

Debt collection agencies can contact you in a few ways- phone, fax, mail, telegram, and in person.  They cannot call you during unreasonable times- before 8am and after 9pm.  And not at your place of employment if you specify that it is not okay to do so.  However, if you prefer to be called outside of those hours because of your work or personal schedule, you can indicate that to them.

If you are interested in learning more about your rights and possibly discuss suing a debt collection agency– call our office today.  Start taking note as well during each call.  877-735-8600
