What is Central Credit Services?

Central Credit Services is a third party debt collection company headquartered in Jacksonville, Florida. It is now a subsidiary of Radius Global Solutions. Debt collectors, like Central Credit, will buy debts and other accounts from original creditors and then collect payments from the account’s debtor.

Historically, debt collectors have been known to use intimidation and harassment to scare consumers into making payments quickly. Thanks to laws like the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA), this kind of behavior is illegal and consumers can sue abusive debt collectors for violating their rights.

Is Central Credit Services legitimate?

While there are many debt collection scams out there, Central Credit is not one of them. It is a legit debt collection agency. However, it can seem like a scam if the debt collectors at Central Credit are trying to scare you into making a payment.

But just because CCS is not a debt collection scam doesn’t mean that fake debt collectors don’t exist. If you are being contacted by someone claiming to be a debt collector, know how to spot a debt collection scam.

Is Central Credit Harassing You for Debt Collection?

When debt collectors are having a hard time receiving payments, they may take to using harassing, abusive or intimidating actions to really push their agenda. The Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) forbids debt collectors from the following actions:

  • Calling before 8 a.m. or after 9 p.m. in your time zone
  • Calling continuously with the intent to annoy or harass you into taking action
  • Calling at your work place if they know you can’t receive such calls at work
  • Using profane language, lying about the amounts owed, or publishing your information on “bad debt” lists
  • Threatening arrest, wage garnishment or legal action with no intent to follow through

Owing a debt is not a crime. But abusive debt collectors will make you feel like it is. Even if you do owe a debt, you have rights protecting you.

If CCS’ debt collection tactics fall under what the FDCPA prohibits, you have the right to sue Central Credit Services for a violation of your rights. If you have Central Credit Services complaints, get free legal help today to learn how to fight back.

How to File a Central Credit Services Lawsuit

If Central Credit Services violated your fair debt collection rights, you can sue. You may be entitled to damages. Here’s how to sue Central Credit Services for violating the FDCPA:

  • Request a validation check on the declared debt. This will verify the amount owed, who owes the debt, and to whom payments should be made. During the validation period (usually 30 days), collection agencies are not allowed to contact you.
  • Find an attorney to represent you on the matter of the debt.
  • File the lawsuit within one year of the violation.
  • Keep a record of all contact between you and the collection agency. This includes calls, emails, letters or in-person contact. Make copies of all documents sent through the mail or online.
