Kroll is consumer reporting agency. They provide credit and background information on consumers to various businesses. Kroll offers both employee and mortgage screenings.

Kroll’s reports are used to asses how risky a consumer may be when they apply for a loan, or to asses whether or not they want to hirable for a certain job, or eligible for promotion. More and more employers are using consumer reports to screen their employees and potential employees.  The information provided using includes credit history, criminal records, employment and education history and other public records. No matter what business requests a background or credit check from Kroll, it is crucial that their reports be free from errors. Unfortunately, credit reporting errors are common, and can be very damaging and costly.

Dispute Kroll Background Checks and Credit Reports

Unfortunately, just like credit reports, employment screening reports often times contain errors, mistakes and incomplete information. Errors on Kroll background checks can result in a denied job offer or even cause you to be fired. Errors on Kroll credit reports sent to mortgage lenders could prevent you from getting the loan you need to buy a home. This can be detrimental to you and your family.

If damaging errors reported by Kroll, have prevented you from getting a job or home loan, under the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) you have the right to sue for damages

Ratings for
  1. Kay W says:

When applying for a mortgage loan, I was rejected because Kroll shows 5 account disputes on cards from Citibank. I checked my credit reports, and 2 of the cards are not on the reports for me to file a claim about the account disputes. Another card, in addition to the 2 above, are closed. Where do they get information that is not Equifax, TransUnion or Experian?

  2. Sean Zerges says:

I pulled all three of my credit reports and scores from The Kroll report from my lender is showing a much lower score for Experian, Equifax, and Trans than what I received the same day from the Experian website. My lender cannot explain the discrepancy.

  3. Donna Raub says:

My mortgage lender got a credit report that shows lower scores with all 3 of the major credit reporting companies that what they show when I pull them up. What is the deal? Why is this report different than what I see? How can I dispute this?

  4. lisa says:

Same thing happened to me as above. Kroll isnt showing all of my credit lines therfore my score is MUCH lower when the lenders are pulling it. There is no where to go to dispute because the information is already on my 3 credit reports.

  5. Charisse says:

I also had the same problem. I confirmed with all three bureaus and none of the items are on my credit report no longer. what can be done? the credit bureus suggesting KROLL contact their marketing reps and have there systems/software updated. This is a pain, luckly i am also qualified through Wells Fargo

  6. Brian says:

I was asked to contact Kroll for some kind of verification for my home re-finance. The Kroll then did a 3 way teleconference with my current mortgage holder, and was very short and rude when they would not provide the info they Kroll wanted. I was not even privy to what was going to be asked before the conference call. Thank you current mortgage holder for NOT giving my personal info to a company.

  7. michelle says:

I have been working to improve my credit score since 05/10 and I have seen improvements in all of my credit scores from each individual credit agency but the score has not changed on the Knoll Factual Data credit report.

  8. robert says:

My mortgage lender got a credit report that shows lower scores with all 3 of the major credit reporting companies than what they show when I pull them up. What is the deal? Why is this report different than what I see? How can I dispute this?

  9. Frank Alexander says:

I have apparently been overlooked for a job based on false information reported by Kroll. I would like a copy of the report. This is a shameful violation of my personal privacy. If I have to agree to a credit check as a condition of employment from anyone I should be able to see what is being reported about me.

  10. Nathaniel Gaye Sr. says:

There has been so many activities by some unknown people on my report for the past several years. Now I want to be proactive and begin to control my credit report. Please help! Some records are half true, and others are just pure theft or lie.

  11. Laura G says:

My husband and I are trying to build a home and the mortgage company used Kroll to pull our credit. They are showing both of our score between 75 and 100 points LOWER that then three credit bureaus and will not finance us. I don’t know how to fight this.

  12. Eric says:

I just bought a house and refinancied my car. Neither flinched with my credit report and I got preferred rates. I go to get my electricity turned on and they say that my credit report is a problem and I need to put down a downpayment. They say they used Experien….they didn’t they used Kroll.

The best thing to do is ask who they use to pull your credit report when going for financing. If they say Kroll than move on to a different lender.

  13. Ron says:

How can they justify puling my credit 7 times in 6 months for a mortgage loan, a persons credit doesn’t change that often.

  14. John Stone Sr says:

My mortgage lender got a credit report that shows lower scores with all 3 of the major credit reporting companies than what they show when I pull them up on the same day, they used Kroll Factual Data. Example I had mid score of 672 and they pulled up a score of 614, what is the deal? Why is this report different than what I see? How can I dispute this? There should be a law to protect people from this.

  15. Pete says:

When I applied for a mortgage the scores where much lower than were reported to me. Whats the deal I recently had some corrections that were mae that are reflected on all three of the credit reporting companies by they still have a lower score???

  16. Matt says:

The credit rating game is a racket!! Bought the credit reports from Equifax, Experian,TransUnion. All have my score between 750 and 760. Kroll Data? They say 675. This makes no sense to me and I’m applying for a mortgage again (mortgage co. uses Kroll) and this makes me insane. BTW, I have no debt, 1 late pay for $30 4 years ago that was resolved (i.e. paid) and a car note. I’m EXACTLY what creditors want to see as far as responsible payments but Kroll is artificially deflating my score. Of course there’s no one to call, no anything. I find the whole thing absurd and, well, criminal. Government really needs to come in and regulate the “black box” operations since their three digit numbers have a DIRECT impact on millions of Americans’ lives.

  17. Rachael says:

I had two incorrect accounts deleted from my credit report prior to applying for a home loan. KROLL did their “investigation” and said the accounts were accurate and I would have to pay them to obtain the home loan! Almost $1000 to come up with due to this agency!
